Conferences
Round Square Conferences are first and foremost about the students. Both the organisation and running of a conference is centered on student input, with adult supervision.
The Round Square organisation has offered conference experiences to students for many years with the aim of empowering youth by focussing them on global and community themes. This is not only an opportunity to develop friendships with other students across the globe but to open their minds to world issues and feeling some responsibility as global citizens to make a difference.
Our region (Australasia and East Asia) has around 18 member schools and currently includes Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Bali, Mongolia, New Zealand and Australia.
There is an annual offering of conferences from within our region across varying age groups and internationally. The Round Square International Conference is offered once per year and is open to students who are in Year 11.
Regional Round Square Conferences are specified by age and will vary between 10 years and 17 years, usually spanning a couple of year groups. That is, 10-12 year olds; 12-14 year olds; 15-17 year olds. The host school will determine what those age groups are or if there is to be any variation to the age groupings.
TAS will advertise these opportunities as soon as possible and call for applications from students. It is also intended to give as much notice as possible by keeping our 3 year Co-curricular Calendar available to parents and students so that some forward planning is possible when considering other opportunities that are available.
